After a successful import of pictures from my Canon camera using Canon Utilities a window shows up with the text: "Linked Software will be started by terminating the Software".
Actually, this happened once. Why doesn't happen anymore? Can the program be manually started? What is the name of the program?

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything related to the situation described by your in the above section. I believe that message appeared to inform you that the other program from Canon will start when the import procedure is completed. Some apps work in their own way and most likely this was a normal behavior.
Just ignore that message and continue using the application like you would normally do. If it still appears after images are transferred, then it confirms what I've said above.
